Benchmark is a-coming!

First of all, sorry for my absence on the blog. My daughter was sick last night, and I just ran out of time. But I'm back to myself now (and so is she). So- today we turned in success sheets (some of us), checked the practice problems, and worked on the new Benchmark Practice Problems. We also passed back the quizzes from last week (which could have been a lot better.) SO, tonight you are to finish the Benchmark Practice problems. That's a big deal, guys. Don't come in and tell me you didn't finish, because then you won't be able to ask questions about the stuff you don't get!

Also, get your success sheet signed if you didn't. And finish Homework 42 because I'm collecting it tomorrow. Redo your quiz, too.

If you're bored- check out this link: www.deathclock.com for a cheery little moment.

Project 4

Today we worked in class on our word problems. You began the posters which are due on Monday. Here's what you'll need on Monday: your worked out word problems (8 for Period 1 and Period 6, 10 for Periods 2,3, and 5). You 'll need your poster with two word problems. For each problem on the poster, please write out the problem, show the five steps to solve it, and include an illustration. This is a 50 point project, so please make sure it is done and ready to hand in on Monday when you arrive. Neatness counts, and so does accuracy (in other words getting the problem right!)

Get it done and enjoy the rest of the weekend:o)

Age, Consecutive Integers, Phone companies, and Tickets

Hi all! The last two days have been spent in working on word problems. We've learned at least four different kinds of set ups. What they all have in common is the steps:
1) define variables
2) write equation
3) solve equation
4) answer the question
5) check your answer for reasonableness

Tonight you have a whole bunch (12) word problems to work on. At a minimum, make sure 5 are done (with all 5 steps) but the more you can do the better:o)

Have a great day, and come in tomorrow ready to ask questions about the ones you are struggling with.

Smile!

Practice makes perfect (or at least a little bit better)

Hey all! Today we practiced a couple of things. First we began with practicing our properties. Such a little thing to lern, but they give people such a headache. Please study and learn them. Use the flashcards to help you study.

Then we worked on multi step equations and inequalities. Remember to solve, check, and graph all of them. Numbers 6 and 12 are extra credit, so if you get them wrong it won't hurt you, but if you get them right- wow, you'll feel so good about your brain:o) (and earn a few extra points). Finish the worksheet for homework!

Have a wonderful day, and remember tomorrow may be rainy or sunny, but there will be a new president-elect, and the world may start to change!
