Order of Operations- August 29

Happy three day weekend, everyone. Today we learned about the Order of Operations. The visual we used was a step pyramid.

The homework is worksheet 1.4 There are twelve problems, out of which you need to do 10. Don't forget that number 3 has a typo and the dividing sign should be an addition sign. Use your colors, and show your work, and be proud of yourselves. This is the best beginning of a year I've ever had. I can tell that you all are ready to learn, and I'm thrilled to have you.

August 28th- Exponents

Hey guys! Today we had fun learning about exponents. We learned that exponents are shortcuts for repeated multiplication. We also learned the three exponent rules:

1) 1 to the power of anything is 1.
2) Anything to the power of 1 is itself.
3) Anything to the power of 0 is 1.

Learn them, you never know when it may come in handy! Hope you enjoyed working in your families today. We'll be doing a LOT of that this year.
