Multiplying Decimals and an apology

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't manage an update yesterday- I was too busy with back to school night.

Today we learned to multiply decimals. The trick here is to use the blue pencil (or pen) to count the decimal places. Once you've counted them in the problem, make sure you have the same number in the answer. For example 1.34x2.5 has three decimal places, so the answer (3.350) has three decimal places. You get the idea. The other thing I really want you thinking about is whether or not your answer makes sense. If you're multiplying something that is bigger than 1 (i.e. 1.34) times something else that is bigger than 1 (i.e. 2.5) your answer should be bigger than what you started with. We'll keep talking about this in class. Don't be discouraged if you're a bit confused now; you can do it! i've already seen some students really improve, and it's only been 3 weeks:o)

Have a beautiful day, and don't forget to do p. 680 (1-8) for homework. Change the direction to multiply, and make sure to use the blue!
